I’m an actor and computer science student, though I started as a computer engineering student at NC State, where I took part in 8 shows, took on a theatre minor, and got 4 best acting awards. I like to code in my free time and made a ton of little projects over the years, and one of them started to get noticed online, which led me to switch to CS as my main degree in 2024. Then, I learned Swift and SwiftUI in January 2025 while building the app I submitted for the challenge.

In 2025, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. Here’s how Fayaz describes his winning submission.
GyroCam is a professional camera app that takes in gyroscope data and uses it to ensure the footage you record is always upright. Every time you rotate your device, the app has two options— either stop recording and re record immediately for instant saving, or write down the time code, and apply post processing to flip those segments, creating on long continuous clip.
