In 2024, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. New for 2024, 50 Distinguished Winners were recognized for their outstanding submissions and invited to Apple in Cupertino. Here’s how Tomás describes his winning submission.
Considering the global issue of inadequate nutrition, I realized that nutritional information on food is often not intuitive. As a result, many people rely on the appearance of packaging to compare different food options. Because of this, for the challenge, I developed the "Know Your Food" app, designed to assist people in choosing a healthier diet. Within the app, users can take a photo of a food's nutrition label and receive feedback based on the nutrients present and their quantities.
