In 2024, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. New for 2024, 50 Distinguished Winners were recognized for their outstanding submissions and invited to Apple in Cupertino. Here’s how Santiago describes his winning submission.

For my Swift Student Challenge submission, I created an app based on the wildfires that occurred in Chile during the first few weeks of 2024. The app simulates the role of a fire department chief and allows users to allocate different trucks to emergencies that randomly arise. Additionally, it features Apple Pencil integration to sketch out plans and track firefighters. My goal was to illustrate some of the difficult tasks that fire departments face and raise awareness about their brave tasks.
