I’m Alex, a 16 year old iOS developer passionate about building apps that combine science and creativity. I love crafting experiences that make complex ideas simple, like helping people capture meteors on their phones or explore the solar system through interactive design. My work focuses on using Swift to create meaningful tools for users and scientists alike.
Alex has been awarded a WWDC scholarship two times. Here are the submissions that got him there.
In 2025, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. Here’s how Alex describes his winning submission.
Make A Wish is an all-in-one meteor tracking app that predicts meteor showers enables effortless meteor capture using ML-powered image filtering and maps global meteor trajectories, simplifying meteor science for enthusiasts and researchers. The app has successfully captured meteors with a click of a button on an iPhone! This breakthrough attracted various organisations’ interest, such as Fireballs Aotearoa and the Global Meteor Network, which I'm contributing to.
